Radiant – August 29th on Zoom

Well, once again, a reading is approaching and it feels like the rest of the world is on fire. And in fact, parts of it are. I’m breathing smoke and waiting to hear if I need to evacuate, AND Radiant is getting a reading at EnActe Arts! Zoom though it may be, it’s going to a brilliant show— and a brilliant showing-off of six amazing actors!

In desperation, Ayla hitches a ride across the country with Rachel and an RV full of artists. Rachel connects with the Goddess on her terms. Ayla connects with Allah whenever she can. Relationships unravel as the close-quarters bunkmates grapple with faith, mortality, and Rachel’s need to be in control.

This is going to be a bit different than your typical Zoom reading. We’re recording in advance, and I’ll be editing things together so it’s less six-boxes-in-a-row and more oh-look-these-motions-and-aesthetic-effects-are-beautiful-and-I-am-full-of-joy. I’m trying to get inspired and use Zoom as a storytelling medium rather than think of it as a limitation. In many ways, this pandemic is challenging theatre artists everywhere to rethink their crafts and create new techniques. In this instance, at least, it’s looking pretty good!

I hope to see you there,

-BT
