Aul//Ope is Lost – May 28th on Zoom

Well, the world’s inside-out and rotating wrong, but we’re still here and still truckin’. And in this overarching period of novelty, we’re all adapting. Most of us have suffered from these adjustments, and (and, not but!) many of us have taken this chance to reflect and make the micro alterations to ourselves we’ve needed to for some time. As Theia would say, and as I believe, humanity turns towards light.

Art goes on, always.

And it is not in bitter spite of a world in turmoil, but exactly because of it.

In a surrealist poetic tragedy, three queer men/mascs unpack how the concept of masculinity, both toxic and empowering, has impeded, impacted, and impelled their capacity for love. Each of the three characters speaks in their own form of verse.

Moving swiftly along from my amateur philosophy corner, this post does have a purpose: Living Light in San Diego is, like many theatre companies, offering play readings over Zoom. I’m delighted to announce that on Thursday, May 28th, they’ll be hosting a workshop reading of my one-act tragipoem Aul//Ope is Lost, a surrealist interrogation of masculinity— one perspective on it, anyway. Please check them out and please attend the public reading! Details to be posted soon.

Be well and stay safe,
